This project involved the complete transformation of a large, architecturally striking private residence set within expansive landscaped grounds. The property already featured a home automation system that was more than ten years old, which had become outdated both technically and in terms of usability. As part of a full refurbishment of the house, the client engaged us to re-imagine the technology from the ground up, ensuring it matched the quality, longevity and aesthetic of the newly renovated spaces.
Working closely with the client, architects and interior designers from the early planning stages, we designed and delivered a fully integrated smart home solution centred around Crestron automation. The goal was to create a system that felt effortless to use, future-proofed and completely discreet, while offering powerful control over every aspect of the home.
Lighting control was redesigned throughout the property, allowing the client to create elegant, layered lighting scenes that complement both daytime living and evening entertaining. The lighting integrates seamlessly with the architecture, highlighting feature joinery, artwork and architectural details, while remaining simple to operate via touchscreens and keypads.
The HVAC system was fully integrated into the automation platform, giving the client intuitive control over heating and cooling across the home. This allows for precise temperature management in individual zones, improved energy efficiency and seamless interaction with other systems such as shading and lighting.
A robust enterprise-grade network and Wi-Fi infrastructure was installed to support the demands of the property and its extensive technology. This ensures reliable connectivity throughout the house and outdoor areas, providing a solid backbone for streaming, automation, security and future expansion.
Multiroom audio and video distribution was implemented to allow music and video content to flow effortlessly throughout the home. Whether enjoying background music in living spaces, focused listening in quieter rooms or shared entertainment across multiple zones, the system delivers high-quality performance with simple, consistent control.
A key feature of the project is the dedicated home cinema, designed to deliver an immersive cinematic experience within the home. The room features a 7.4.4 Dolby Atmos audio system paired with a Hisense 116” television, creating a powerful combination of scale, clarity and impact. The result is a space equally suited to blockbuster movies, live sports and high-end streaming, all controlled as part of the wider Crestron system.
The outdoor areas were given equal attention, with a Sonance landscape audio system carefully integrated into the gardens. This allows the client to enjoy music outside without visible speakers disrupting the natural surroundings, creating an even sound field ideal for entertaining or relaxed outdoor living.
Security and peace of mind were addressed through the integration of CCTV and door entry systems, all accessible via the central control platform. This enables the client to monitor the property, manage visitors and maintain security whether at home or away.
Electric curtains and shading were installed throughout the property, providing both convenience and aesthetic control. These systems work in harmony with lighting and climate control, enhancing comfort, privacy and energy efficiency while maintaining a clean, uncluttered interior design.
The completed project delivers a refined, intuitive smart home that fully supports the client’s lifestyle while remaining largely invisible. By upgrading and modernising an ageing system as part of a full refurbishment, we were able to create a cohesive, future-ready solution that enhances both the functionality and the luxury of the property, ensuring it will continue to perform beautifully for many years to come.
